2008 Christmas Morning Homicide Suspect Arrested

The Sacramento Police Department has arrested 29-year-old Edgar Carrillo for the 2008 murder of Francisco Torres.

On Thursday, December 25, 2008, at approximately 12:07 a.m., the Sacramento Police Department responded to the 2300 block of North Avenue regarding a shooting.  Upon arrival, officers found a male Hispanic in his 20s who had been shot. The victim, Francisco Torres, was pronounced deceased at the scene. It was reported that the suspect and the victim were acquaintances and got into a verbal altercation prior to the shooting.

The Sacramento Police Department's Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Investigations Unit responded to investigate.  During the course of their investigation, detectives quickly developed information that the suspect fled to Mexico.  Homicide detectives worked diligently to seek a warrant for Carrillo.  On May 09, 2011, suspect Carrillo was arrested in Mexico on an Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution warrant.

On Thursday, June 7 2012, Carrillo was flown from Mexico to the United States by federal officials.  Detectives from the Sacramento Police Department took custody of Carrillo and booked him into the Sacramento County Jail for the murder of Francisco Torres.
