The Sacramento Police Department is investigating a shooting that left four people dead inside of a South Sacramento home.
On Saturday, June 9, 2012, at 10:40 p.m., police responded to the 7600 block of 18th Street regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered a shootout had occurred inside the residence, leaving four people deceased. The Sacramento Police Department's Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Investigations Unit responded to investigate.
Detectives believe that a lone gunman was allowed entry into the home and for reasons unknown, the gunman opened fire with a handgun killing three of the occupants of the home and wounding a fourth person. A fifth person inside of the home returned fire, killing the gunman. The wounded occupant was later transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
