The Sacramento Police Department is investigating the shooting death of a 17-year-old male.
On Saturday, June 16, 2012, at 12:41 a.m., officers responded to the 7800 block of Detroit Boulevard on a report of gunfire. Upon arrival, police located the victim who suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the upper body. A witness advised there were sounds of a verbal altercation prior to the shooting.
The Sacramento Police Department's Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigations Unit responded to the scene. Detectives are actively investigating the circumstances that led to the homicide. At this time, the motive for this shooting is unknown.
