The Sacramento Police Department and two individual officers received traffic safety awards from the California Office of Traffic Safety.
On Wednesday, September 12, 2012, Officers Keri Wilson and Jamison Redding were honored for their individual work in traffic safety and DUI enforcement. The department also received second place honors for traffic safety enforcement and awareness.
The California Office of Traffic Safety program allows law enforcement agencies to set comprehensive goals, to strive to reach new heights in traffic safety, to share their experiences with others, and to be recognized for their traffic safety accomplishments; in short, to make a difference in the communities their officers serve each day. Saving lives and reducing the frequency and severity of injuries are the true rewards of law enforcement's efforts.
Officers have unprecedented responsibilities to prevent traffic fatalities, which now occur at the rate of one every two hours, to reduce the number of serious injuries resulting from traffic collisions.
The Sacramento Police Department is proud to accept this honor and to recognize employees who have gone above and beyond their duties to make our community safer. Congratulations Officers Wilson and Redding!
