On October 8, 2012, at 4:39 a.m., police and medical personnel responded to the area of West Stockton Boulevard near Tolkien Avenue regarding a traffic accident involving a single vehicle and a pedestrian.
Based on statements and physical evidence, it was determined that the driver of the vehicle was travelling northbound on West Stockton Boulevard. A subject, walking in the roadway, was struck by the northbound vehicle. The pedestrian was fatally injured as a result of the accident.
There were no crosswalks in the location of the accident. The driver of the vehicle was cooperative and waited at the scene for emergency personnel to arrive. There is no indication that driving under the influence was a factor.
The pedestrian killed has been identified as a 27-year-old male. The driver of the vehicle did not report any injuries and was cleared by medical personnel at the scene.
