On Monday, October 15, 2012, at approximately 5:32 a.m., officers responded to the 200 block of Battle Creek Circle for a report of a shooting. Dispatch had received a call from a man stating that he had just accidentally shot his girlfriend thinking she was an intruder.
Officers arrived and contacted the 34-year-old female who had sustained a gunshot wound to her upper body. The Sacramento Fire Department responded and transported the victim; however she later succumbed to her injuries. The boyfriend has been cooperative with homicide investigators.
Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Investigators are on scene investigating the case. Additional details are not available as the investigation is still ongoing.
