On Wednesday, November 07, 2012, at approximately 8:41 p.m., a Sacramento Police patrol sergeant was in the area of 15th Street and S Street when he heard several gunshots. A witness related to the patrol sergeant that there had just been a shooting and people were seen scattering. Moments later, a suspicious vehicle was seen leaving the area.
The sergeant immediately attempted to locate the suspicious vehicle. The driver of the vehicle had driven a few blocks and abandoned the car in the area. When the patrol sergeant came upon the vehicle it was unoccupied and witnesses reported seeing the driver flee on foot.
Additional officers quickly arrived in the area of 15th Street and S Street to find the victim, later identified as a male in his 30’s, to have what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. Officers immediately rendered emergency medical aid to the victim until fire personnel arrived. Despite the efforts by responding officers the victim succumbed to his injuries.
A multiple block perimeter was set up in the area of 17th Street and T Street. The perimeter was searched with the assistance of K9 and a Sacramento Police helicopter. Two subjects were detained as a result of the perimeter search and the investigation as to their involvement in this incident is ongoing.
Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators are actively investigating this case. Additional details are not available as the investigation is still ongoing. The motive for this homicide remains unknown at this time.
