The Sacramento Police Department is investigating a fatal hit and run accident that has left a bicyclist dead.
On Sunday, November 11, 2012, at approximately 5:58 p.m., the Sacramento Police Department and the Sacramento Fire Department responded to Stockton Boulevard and Lawrence Drive on reports a bicyclist had been struck by a white pick-up truck. The 61-year-old female bicyclist was transported by ambulance to a local hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.
The Sacramento Police Department's Traffic Investigation Unit and Crime Scene Investigation Unit responded to the scene. A preliminary investigation into the collision has lead investigators to believe the white pick-up truck was traveling northbound on Stockton Boulevard and struck the bicyclist as she was riding across the road. The unidentified driver of the pick-up drove off fleeing scene of the accident.
The suspect vehicle was described as a 1990s Ford or Chevrolet, single cab white pick-up with a tool box-type container in the back. The pick-up sustained a broken left headlamp and has damage to the driver's side front end.
