The Sacramento Police Department is investigating a shooting that leaves one man dead.
On Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at 6:42 p.m., officers were called to the area of North Avenue and May Street on reports of gunshots and a subject on the ground.
Officers arrived and found a white male adult in his late teens-early twenties with a gunshot wound to his upper body. The victim was unresponsive and lying in the roadway. Sacramento Fire Department personnel arrived moments later and pronounced him deceased at the scene.
Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded and are actively investigating the circumstances that led to this incident. Preliminary information gathered at the scene revealed that the victim was riding his bicycle to a family member's home in the neighborhood before the shooting occurred.
At this point in the investigation, there is no known motive for the shooting and no specific suspect information.
