The Sacramento Police Department is investigating the homicide of a 9-year-old boy.
On Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at approximately 11:52 p.m., the Sacramento Police Department received two emergency calls from a residence on the 2200 block of Atrisco Circle, in the north area of Sacramento. Officers arrived within minutes and located a non-responsive 9-year-old boy inside the home. The juvenile appeared to have suffered blunt force trauma to his head. He was declared deceased at the scene.
Officers spoke with relatives at the scene and then established a large perimeter around the residence. Approximately 15 minutes later, the victim's father was located walking in a nearby neighborhood. He was detained without incident and remains in police custody pending further investigation.
Sacramento Police Homicide Detectives and CSI were called out to assist with the investigation. The investigation is on-going and a motive is unclear at this time. It appears both the victim and his father were living at the home, along with other relatives, at the time of the crime. The identity of the victim, his father, and other relatives are being withheld pending further investigation.
