On Thursday, March 14, 2013, at approximately 3:00 p.m., the Sacramento Police Department arrested a 16-year-old suspect stemming from an incident that occurred the day prior.
On Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at 4:32 p.m., officers responded to the 2200 block of Matson Drive. It was reported that two seven-year-old boys were approached by an unknown man while on school grounds. The stranger offered them twenty dollars in an attempt to get them to follow him. The boys ran off and alerted a teacher and another school employee. The suspect was last seen fleeing the area on foot.
Today, dayshift officers that patrol the neighborhood were briefed on the circumstances from the previous day. Those area officers recalled an incident that occurred weeks prior involving a 16-year-old male that was found inside a nearby elementary school and subsequently cited for trespassing.
School Resource Officers, area police officers and Sex Assault Child Abuse detectives were able to identify and verify that the subject in the trespassing case was the same suspect in Wednesday's incident.
The 16-year-old juvenile was located and arrested for communicating with minors in order to commit a sexual offense, 288.3 PC. The suspect was later booked into juvenile hall.
