Police Seek Information

Police are asking for the community's help in providing information regarding a homicide that occurred one month ago.   

On Sunday, March 17, 2013, at approximately 12:48 a.m., the Sacramento Police Department responded to the area of 18th and P Streets regarding a report of a subject who was bleeding.  Officers arrived and found the 28-year-old victim, Josiah Humphreys, seriously injured from a physical altercation.  Three unknown suspects are believed to be involved in the physical assault on Humphreys, who was transported to an area hospital and succumbed to his injuries. Detectives continue to actively work the case and have developed information regarding the following possible suspect descriptions:

  • Suspect #1, Unknown Male, light skinned Black, Hispanic or Asian, 25 to 30 years old, 180 to195 lbs, wearing a dark colored New York Yankees jacket (see attached image of a similar jacket).
  • Suspect #2, Unknown Male, light skinned Black, Hispanic or Asian, 25 to 30 years old, thin build, and short dark spiky hair, wearing a white t-shirt.
  • Suspect #3, Unknown Male, light skinned Black, Hispanic or Asian, 25 to 30 years old, possibly wearing a white t-shirt.

Surveillance video obtained from the area continues to be reviewed in an attempt to identify the involved suspects.  Detectives believe there are witnesses that have not yet come forward. Currently Josiah's family, his friends and the community are offering a reward and callers may be eligible for up to $15,000.
