The Sacramento Police Department will be conducting several activities this week to combat alcohol related crimes in the city and to ensure nighttime entertainment venues are in compliance with state and local permits.
During the week, officers will be serving warrants for wanted DUI offenders and conducting DUI saturation patrols with assistance from outside agencies participating in the AVOID the 17 Campaign. They will also be conducting a DUI/Drivers License checkpoint in an effort to educate the public and deter impaired drivers.
In an effort to combat DUI driving and other alcohol related crimes, we will also be conducting inspections of entertainment venues and other ABC regulated businesses to ensure compliance with state and local permits to promote a safer environment for patrons.
Officers will be partnering with many local and state agencies during the week including: State Alcohol and Beverage Control, Sacramento Fire Department, City Code Enforcement, Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department, Folsom Police Department, Roseville Police Department, Elk Grove Police Department and Sacramento County Probation.
Funding for a portion of these programs was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Please direct any inquiries to Sergeant Chris Prince at (916) 808-6069. Media is encouraged to attend the checkpoint in an effort to spread awareness about the impacts of drinking and driving.
