The Sacramento Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred in the 500 block of Bankside Way.
On June 12, 2013, at 2:18 a.m., officers were dispatched to a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found a 26-year-old man shot and on the ground in the parking lot of an apartment complex. The victim died at the scene.
Homicide investigators arrived and delved into the case. It was found that the victim, who is from out of town, was walking alone through an apartment complex. The victim was then confronted by someone, brief words were exchanged and shots were then fired. The victim was struck multiple times in the upper body.
Crime Scene Investigators as well as the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office arrived on scene to assist in the investigation.
It is unknown what motivated the shooting, why the victim was at that apartment complex, or the identity of the suspect. The apartment complex where the shooting took place has many residences and investigators believe there may be more unidentified witnesses.
