The Sacramento Police Department is investigating a subject found deceased in a park.
On Saturday, June15, 2013, at 7:46 a.m., officers responded to reports of a body that was found in the 7700 block of 24th Street. Witnesses in the area first observed the victim and notified police. Responding officers located the female victim and Sacramento Fire Department personnel confirmed the subject was deceased.
The initial investigation revealed that the victim, a female Black adult in her twenties, with shoulder length braids, suffered multiple gunshot wounds to her upper body.
A canvass was done and it was discovered that witnesses heard what is believed to have been multiple gunshots in the early morning hours. Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene to assist with the investigation.
At this point, detectives are unable to identify the female victim. There is limited information as to the circumstances that brought the victim to the park and detectives wish to speak with anyone that may have information pertaining to this active and ongoing investigation.
