The Sacramento Police Department has made an arrest in a sexual battery investigation stemming from an incident that occurred in the 1600 block of Arden Way.
On Thursday, June 20, 2013, officers responded to a report of a sexual battery that occurred in a public restroom of a department store. The 22-year-old disabled male victim reported he was inappropriately touched by a male subject while in the restroom. Responding officers utilized the elaborate surveillance system in and about the Arden Fair Mall to quickly develop leads in the case.
Sacramento Police Department Sex Assaults Detectives began an investigation during which time 47-year-old Jeffery Closson was identified as a possible suspect. Closson is an officer with the California Highway Patrol and was off duty at the time of the incident. The California Highway Patrol immediately launched an internal administrative investigation due to the circumstances of this incident.
On Friday, July 26, 2013, detectives, in conjunction with the Sacramento District Attorney's Office, obtained a warrant for Closson's arrest. Closson was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail for two misdemeanor charges, Disorderly Conduct: Loitering at Public Toilet and Sexual Battery.
