On Tuesday, August 6, 2013, the Sacramento Police Department booked 19-year-old Elijah Rogers into the Sacramento County Jail for murder, resisting arrest, possession of rock cocaine for sale and weapons charges.  Rogers was booked into county jail in relation to a homicide that occurred in the 4000 block of Sea Drift Way on June 23, 2013. 

On June 23, 2013, officers responded to the shooting which left four subjects shot, one of which did not survive his injuries.  The preliminary investigation found that a disturbance erupted between two groups at the party which led to shots being fired.  Homicide investigators delved into the incident at the time and continued to work leads into the case.

On Wednesday, July 17, 2013, Sacramento Police Detectives investigating the homicide confronted a subject believed to be related to the homicide investigation.  The subject was Elijah Rogers. Rogers fled and the detectives chased after him.  They quickly caught up to Rogers and attempted to subdue him.  A struggle ensued at which time the detectives saw that Rogers was armed with a handgun.  The two detectives discharged their handguns at Rogers striking him.  Rogers was transported to an area hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound and was discharged today.

On Saturday, July 27, 2013, in the midst of the homicide investigation, a 17-year-old male was arrested and booked into Juvenile Hall in connection to the Sea Drift Way shooting.  The juvenile was found to be an active participant in the shooting and was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, discharge of a firearm at an inhabited dwelling, and gross negligent discharge of a firearm. 

The Sacramento Police Department is still actively investigating the case and will not be releasing Rogers' mug shot at this time.  The detectives are asking for witnesses to contact the police department with any information.
