The Sacramento Police Department and the Sacramento Police Activities League (PAL) are proud to announce the 4th Annual Fitness Boot Camp Award Ceremony.
The ceremony will take place on Thursday, August 15, 2013, at 10:00 a.m., at Leataata Floyd Elementary School (in the multi-purpose room). The school is located at 401 McClatchy Way in Sacramento.
The kids will open the graduation ceremony by marching into the auditorium as they shout out in cadence. The Sacramento Police Honor Guard will be presenting the colors followed by the school principal Billy Aydlett recognizing distinguished guests. Guests to include: Councilmember Steve Hansen, Sacramento Police Chief Sam Somers Jr., Sacramento Police Captain Neil Schneider, Assistant Director of Public Housing MaryLiz Paulson and the Sac PAL Fitness Boot Camp Coordinator Sergeant Ben Gomez.
Phoenix Park Choir consisting of 25 kids from the SHRA housing community will be performing.
The Sacramento Police Activities League is a community-based program providing healthy activities for kids, building self-esteem and promoting teamwork with police officers. SAC PAL offers educational and enrichment programs for local youth.
The 2013 Fitness Camp was a six-week long program in which SAC PAL kids attended two days per week, three and a half hours a day. The program focused on physical fitness and nutrition as well as developing the "PAL Pillars of Character," which includes self esteem, honesty, integrity, fairness and justice. The kids were put through drill and ceremony practice and a variety of sports and games. The camp instructors consisted of Sacramento police officers, dispatchers, and physical fitness trainers who volunteered their time to this program.
