The Sacramento Police Department recognized veterinarians Dr. Chris Wong, Dr. Robert Runyan and the staff at the VCA Sacramento Veterinary Referral Center (VCA SVRC) for their commitment and dedication to the Sacramento Police K9 Unit.

On Wednesday, August 21, 2013, the Sacramento Police Department presented Certificates of Appreciation for the exceptional level of service provided to our K9s - most notably, during two recent critical incidents in which K9 Bandit, shot in the neck, and K9 Bodie, shot in the jaw and paw, needed extensive emergency surgeries that ultimately saved their lives.

The VCA SVRC has deeply invested themselves in the welfare of our police dogs and their handlers, both professionally and personally, by going above and beyond in the care of our animals. Our police dogs always receive the highest level of medical care, even for routine check-ups, because the staff at the VCA SVRC are some of the most skilled and talented in their field. Over the years, the K9 Unit has come to rely on the caring and compassionate staff of the VCA SVRC, especially when our police dogs needed emergency medical care and it has proven invaluable to our Department, our K9 Unit and their families."
