The Sacramento Police Department, in conjunction with the City of Davis Police Department, has arrested 29-year-old Aquelin Talamantes for murder related to the death of her 5-year-old daughter.
On Thursday, September26, 2013, at 2:35 p.m., officers responded to the 7900 block of Pocket Road to check the welfare of Talamantes' daughter. Family members notified law enforcement after Talamantes drove to the City of Sacramento and arrived at a relative's apartment without her daughter. Concerns grew about the 5-year-old's welfare as mother and daughter were seen together earlier in the day in Davis, CA where they currently reside.
Upon arrival, Sacramento Police Officers contacted Talamantes, among other family who live in the Sacramento area apartment complex. Shortly after the officers' arrival, the 5-year-old victim was located unresponsive inside the trunk of Talamantes' vehicle. Officers and members of the community in the area immediately began emergency life saving efforts (CPR) and the child was transported to the hospital where she later died.
During the initial investigation it was determined that the incident originated at Talamantes' home in the 5100 block of Glide Drive, Davis CA. The City of Davis Police Department and Sacramento Police Department shifted their attention to the original homicide scene on Glide Drive and a search warrant into the residence is actively underway.
Talamantes is currently in custody for homicide and pending booking into the Yolo County Main Jail.
