The Sacramento Police Department is investigating the homicide of a 22-year-old man.
On Tuesday, October 8, 2013, at 3:04 a.m., Sacramento police responded to an apartment in the 1700 block of O Street for a report of a disturbance. The caller heard loud bangs, glass breaking and possibly gunshots. Officers arrived at the residence and contacted three individuals, one of which had a gunshot wound to the upper body. Officers summoned medical aid for the victim and detained the other two individuals that were possibly involved in the incident.
Sacramento Fire Department arrived to provide medical aid and despite life saving efforts, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was declared deceased at the scene.
Initial investigation revealed that the three subjects knew one another and were associated with the apartment where the shooting took place. At this time, the motive for the shooting is unclear, however this does not appear to be a random act of violence and there are no outstanding suspects.
Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded. Officers canvassed the neighboring units and residences for potential witnesses to the shooting. A gun was recovered and booked into evidence.
Homicide detectives are actively working the case. Both subjects that were detained at the scene are in police custody. No further information is available at this time.
