On Sunday, October 27, 2013, at approximately 1:37 a.m., the Sacramento Police Department responded to the 1800 block of Del Paso Boulevard on a report of a subject shot. Officers found that a total of six victims had been shot, one of which died at the scene. A seventh victim was struck with shrapnel and later drove herself to a Fairfield hospital.
Officers found that a studio was rented out for a Halloween event. The shooting took place at the end of the event while the occupants were exiting the studio onto Del Paso Boulevard. The occupants were exiting the front door, gathering in the area, when a sedan traveling south on Del Paso Boulevard began shooting at the crowd.
Six victims that sustained non-life threatening injuries either self transported to hospitals or were contacted at the scene by Sacramento Fire Department personnel and transported via ambulance. The six victims are in their 20s and 30s and the male victim that was pronounced deceased at the scene is in his late 20s.
Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded and conducted a preliminary investigation, spoke with witnesses and victims, photographed the scene and collected evidence. It is still unclear what motivated this shooting and investigators are asking for the public’s help in gathering information.
