On Wednesday, November 27, 2013, at 6:51 p.m., officers responded to the 200 block of O Street regarding a report of a subject down. Additional information received indicated that a physical fight had occurred between two male subjects.
The first officer to arrive on scene found the unresponsive victim inside of an area park. The officer quickly assessed the male victim in his 50s and began CPR. Additional responding officers detained a subject who was in the area of the victim at the time officers arrived. The subject police have detained is being considered a person of interest in the homicide investigation.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim suffered physical trauma during the incident and his cause of death will be investigated by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
Sacramento Police Homicide Detectives and Crimes Scene Investigators were called to the scene to assist with the ongoing investigation. A specific motive for the deadly assault is unknown at this time.
