On Thursday, November 28, 2013, at approximately 2:53 p.m., officers responded to the 3700 block of Balsam Street regarding a report of a shooting. Responding officers quickly discovered that a female Black in her 20s had been struck with gunfire.
Sacramento Fire Personnel rushed to the scene and determined the victim had been fatally injured. A perimeter was quickly established and a search for the shooter and witnesses immediately ensued.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a brief disturbance between known individuals preceded the shooting. Officers believe that multiple subjects involved in the incident may have fled the scene in either a 2-door white vehicle or possibly a Saturn, gold in color.
Sacramento Police Homicide Detectives and Crimes Scene Investigators were called to the scene to assist with the ongoing investigation.
