On Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at 10:45 p.m., officers responded to the 6000 block of Ventura Street in south Sacramento regarding a report of a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers found two subjects who had apparently been struck by gunfire. Both subjects were ultimately pronounced deceased at the scene. An additional shooting victim, who left the scene prior to officers’ arrival, was later contacted at an area hospital. The subject was treated and released for non-life threating injuries.
The preliminary investigation revealed a group of subjects were standing in front of a residence when they were shot at. A vehicle drove up to the group and multiple occupants exited the car. They reportedly produced handguns and began shooting. Members of the original group were also armed with handguns and returned gunfire.
