On Wednesday, December 25, 2013, at approximately 9:44 p.m., officers responded to the 7400 block of 29th Street regarding a report of a shooting.
Officers quickly arrived on scene and found a male teenaged victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was rushed to an area hospital with critical injuries. An immediate investigation ensued and it was soon discovered that multiple subjects had been struck by gunfire.
An additional victim, also in his teens, arrived at the hospital and medical staff informed police of his non-life threatening injury. A short time later, a third teenaged shooting victim was found in the area of the scene and taken to the hospital by police; he was treated and is expected to survive his injury.
Sacramento Police Homicide Detectives and Crimes Scene Investigators were called to the scene to assist with the investigation.
No arrests have been made at this time and detectives are actively working to determine a motive for the shooting. It appears the victims were among a group of teens who were approached by two suspects on foot. A brief verbal altercation escalated when the two, reportedly adult, suspects produced guns and began shooting at the victims. Detectives continue to gather information and interview witnesses.
