On Monday, January 6, 2014, at 3:42 a.m., officers responded to the 7800 block of Center Parkway in south Sacramento regarding a report of a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers found a subject lying on the ground in front of an apartment who had apparently been struck by gunfire. The subject was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The preliminary investigation revealed that an unknown number of subjects forced their way into an apartment which resulted in a shooting. Occupants of the apartment were unharmed and able to get to safety before calling for help. It appears that the deceased subject did not live at the apartment where the break-in occurred.
Sacramento Police Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators were called to the scene to assist with the investigation. It was determined that the deceased male subject in his 20s, was one of the individuals that did not live at the apartment. This subject was struck by gunfire and fatally injured. The motive for the shooting is still under investigation.
