On Monday, March 10, 2014 at 11:34 a.m., two patrol officers were dispatched to a domestic violence call involving a boyfriend and girlfriend in the 100 block of Seavey Circle.  The 911 caller advised that the boyfriend stated that "he was going to kill someone".  As the two officers were arriving at the scene they received further information that the boyfriend had also called 911 and stated that "he was armed and dangerous" then hung up the phone.

When the officers arrived and exited their car they immediately saw the subject listed in the call.  The subject was standing outside and had his right hand concealed inside of a large, bulky, pea coat like jacket and simulating as if he was holding a weapon.  The officers gave him repeated demands to show his hands for their safety and to determine that he did not possess a weapon.  The subject refused numerous times and yelled threatening statements at the officers while advancing on them.  The officers continued to give him verbal commands to stop and to show his hands.  The subject then lunged at one of the officers.  As the subject lunged at the first officer, the second officer, fearing for the safety of his partner, shot the subject in the upper body.

Officers on scene rendered aid and immediately called for medical assistance.  The subject was transported by ambulance to an area hospital.   At this time, the subject is in surgery and in serious condition.

The Sacramento Police Department's Homicide, Internal Affairs, and Crime Scene Investigation Units are conducting this investigation in conjunction with the City's Office of Public Safety Accountability.
