On Friday, March 14, 2014, at approximately 11:19 p.m., officers responded to the 7000 block of Rock Creek Way regarding reports of a shooting with multiple victims injured.
Officers rushed to the residential neighborhood to find two male adult victims, inside a residence, with non-life threatening gunshot injuries. A third shooting victim, male in his 30s, was located in the backyard of the home and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The two victims located inside the house were transported to an area hospital and are expected to survive.
Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Investigators were called to the scene.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a male suspect arrived in a vehicle, exited the car, and shot multiple rounds into the partially open rollup garage door. The victims were among several subjects inside the garage celebrating a family event. After the shooting it is believed that the suspect returned to the vehicle and fled the scene.
A specific motive for the shooting is unknown at this time and gang detectives also responded to assist with the investigation.
