On Saturday, March 15, 2014, at approximately 12:37 a.m., officers responded to the 7200 block of Gloria Drive regarding a report of a female victim bleeding and seriously injured.
The victim’s neighbor called police after the injured female knocked on her door for help. Officers quickly arrived on scene to find the 19-year-old victim with a gunshot wound and in need of immediate medical attention. Fire department personnel transported the critically injured victim to the hospital where she later died on Monday, March 17, 2014.
Due to the seriousness of the victim’s injury, Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to scene the day of the incident to assist with the investigation.
At this time it is believed that an altercation between known subjects occurred just prior to the shooting. A preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was shot one time in the face by a possibly known suspect who fled the scene on foot. Although a specific motive for the deadly shooting is unknown, detectives believe that this was not a random incident.
The investigation continues to be ongoing and no arrests have been made.
