On Saturday, April 26, 2014, at 8:55 a.m., officers from the Sacramento Police Department responded to the100 block of Jade Tree Circle on a report of a subject with a self inflicted gunshot wound.
Officers arrived on scene, entered the home and found two subjects inside with gunshot wounds; one appeared to be self inflicted. Sacramento Fire Department arrived and declared the female victim and male suspect deceased at the scene.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect and the 35-year-old victim were in a long term dating relationship that had ended recently. The 49-year-old suspect went to the house he and his former girlfriend had been living in, entered the home and after a short time fired multiple rounds at her before turning the gun on himself. Five family members, including two children, were in the house at the time of the incident. None of five were injured.
Sacramento Police Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators were called to the scene to assist with the investigation. Law Enforcement Chaplains also responded.
