On Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at 9:10 p.m., the Sacramento Police Department responded to a report of a hit and run accident leaving a motorcyclist deceased.
Officers responded to the scene and found an 18-year-old male motorcyclist down on the roadway at Del Paso Boulevard and Frienza Avenue. Sacramento Fire personnel arrived on scene and transported the rider to UCD Medical Center where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the motorcyclist was northbound on Del Paso Boulevard approaching Frienza Avenue when a van entered the roadway and both motorists collided. Immediately after the collision the driver of the van pulled over, exited the vehicle and fled on foot from the scene.
Sacramento Police Department’s Major Traffic Collision Unit responded to the intersection along with Crime Scene Investigators. The investigation is still underway and as of this writing there is no further suspect information. Speed does not appear to be a factor and it is still unknown if alcohol played a role in this fatal collision.
