Officers arrived at the house and located the 31-year-old victim who sustained a fatal gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased on the scene. Officers contacted multiple family members and friends that were inside the house at the time of the shooting, including the victim’s three children. No one else in the home was injured.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the female was asleep in her bed when the suspect entered the house through an unlocked door, snuck into her bedroom and shot the victim at close range. The suspect then fled the scene.
Homicide investigators and Crime Scene Investigators arrived on scene and began to delve into the case, talk with family members and witnesses. They recovered evidence at the scene including a firearm. Due to the gravity of the case, the Sacramento County Laboratory of Forensic Services was requested to expedite processing of evidence collected at the scene.
At approximately 9:34 a.m., the victim’s ex-boyfriend, 34-year-old Dameshlo Green, who is also the father of one of her children, turned himself into the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department on his violation of parole warrant. Sacramento Police Homicide detectives responded to the county jail and interviewed Green. Green was later booked for homicide.
