The Sacramento Police Department is proud to announce the re-start of its Police Cadet Program. This program is part of our Youth Services Unit. The curriculum is designed for individuals aged 14 to 20 interested in a law enforcement career including the specialty areas of CSI, Dispatch, Information Technology, and Records Management. Police Cadets will receive training and hands-on experience in various aspects of law enforcement, leadership, physical fitness, life skills, and community service.
The mission of the Police Cadet Program is to develop young people into productive, responsible citizens through leadership, team building, and hands-on activities while inspiring the pursuit of a law enforcement career.
Lieutenant Lisa Hinz, who supervises the Youth Services Unit, said, “We are excited to bring back this very successful program because it will help us develop young people into productive and responsible citizens through leadership and hands-on activities. We want to inspire these cadets to pursue a career in law enforcement.”
Cadets will typically meet weekly at our 300 Richards Boulevard substation. Applicants must have a 2.5 GPA and no felony convictions. An interview and background check will be part of the selection process.
This program is scheduled to begin July 2014. Applications will be accepted continuously until the program is filled with the first round of applications due June 1, 2014. Applications can be downloaded at www.sacpd.org. Click on “Get Involved” and “Students and Youth.”
