On Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at approximately 2:00 p.m., officers responded to an apartment complex in the 2000 block of West El Camino Avenue regarding a report of the sounds of shots fired. Additional information indicated an unresponsive subject could be seen inside an apartment.
Officers arrived on scene and quickly made their way into the apartment to find two male adult victims with gunshot injuries; one of which appeared to be self-inflicted. The Sacramento Fire Department also rushed to the scene to assist; both men were determined, by paramedics, to have been fatally injured and pronounced deceased at the scene.
At this time detectives believe this incident is isolated to the two apparent acquaintances that were inside the apartment at the time of the shooting. Investigators are also looking into the possibility that narcotics use was a factor in the shooting.
This incident does not appear to be gang related and the release of the victims’ identities are pending notification of next-of-kin and the completion of the coroner’s investigation.
