The Sacramento Police Department has arrested 52-year-old John Park for vehicular manslaughter related to a hit and run collision that occurred in May of 2014.
On Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at 9:10 p.m., the Sacramento Police Department responded to a report of a hit and run that left 18-year-old motorcyclist Evan McDonald deceased.
The investigation revealed that victim McDonald was northbound on Del Paso Boulevard approaching Frienza Avenue when a van, believed to have been driven by suspect John Park, entered the roadway. Both motorists collided, fatally injuring victim McDonald. Immediately after the collision John Park pulled over, exited the vehicle and fled on foot from the scene.
The Sacramento Police Department’s Major Collision Investigation Unit responded and conducted the investigation. Video surveillance and eye witnesses in the area of the collision assisted with identifying suspect Park. A warrant was obtained by detectives, in conjunction with the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office, for the arrest of Park. Last night, June 10, 2014, suspect John Park (pictured below) was taken into custody and booked for vehicular manslaughter (without gross negligence) and leaving the scene of an accident.
