The Sacramento Police Department has arrested 23-year-old Hernando Villa for multiple charges related to a fatal hit-and-run vehicle collision that left a passenger of Villa’s car deceased.
On Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at 2:08 a.m., the Sacramento Police Department responded to the intersection of Florin Road and 21st Street regarding a report of a vehicle accident. Officers found that a vehicle struck a parked flatbed truck causing traumatic fatal injuries to Villa’s 17-year-old passenger. Fire responded and pronounced the passenger deceased at the scene.
Responding officers quickly discovered that the driver, suspect Hernando Villa, had left the scene. A search of the area was immediately conducted and Hernando was located in a yard of a nearby residence. Suspect Villa was transported to an area hospital where he was treated for injuries sustained the night of the incident.
The Sacramento Police Department’s Major Collision Investigation Unit responded and assisted with this case. Last night, June 11, 2014, suspect Hernando Villa (pictured below) was cleared for incarceration and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail for charges to include: vehicular manslaughter (without gross negligence), leaving the scene of an accident and driving under the influence of alcohol.
