The Sacramento Police Department is proud to support the Northern California Law Enforcement Torch Run.

Each summer, law enforcement personnel throughout Northern California carry the Flame of Hope on its journey to the Special Olympics Northern California Summer Games Opening Ceremony at UC Davis. The Northern California Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) is the single largest year-round fundraising event benefiting Special Olympics Northern California. In partnership with the communities, their mission is to support Special Olympics Northern California through fundraising and public awareness, while enhancing the quality of life for the athletes who participate.

The final leg (28+ miles) of this run will begin on Friday, June 27 at 5:30 am at Beals Point on Auburn-Folsom Road in Folsom. The torch is scheduled to arrive at Sacramento State University around 9:00 a.m. Sacramento Police officers and officers from several local law enforcement agencies will run the torch through Sacramento and converge at the State Capitol for a brief ceremony which is expected to be around 10:00-10:15 a.m. The torch will then continue its route to a dramatic entrance into Aggie Stadium where officers from around the state will join together to bring the Flame of Hope into the stadium for Opening Ceremonies. The torch will light the caldron signaling the Opening of the Summer Games where over 900 Special Olympic athletes will compete in aquatics, bocce, tennis, or track and field over the weekend.
