On Saturday, June 28, 2014, at approximately 10:01 a.m., officers responded to an apartment in the 1600 block of 17th Street regarding a report of a possibly deceased woman.
The victim was discovered by her friend who went to check on her welfare after multiple texts and calls to her phone went unanswered. The woman, in her 30s, was found unresponsive by her friend who immediately called 911. Sacramento Fire Department Personnel initially responded and notified police who arrived shortly thereafter.
Responding officers secured the scene and summoned the assistance of homicide detectives due to the obvious signs of trauma to the victim. CSI also responded to assist.
A specific motive is unknown at this time. Detectives do not believe this to be a random incident.
