The Sacramento Police Department has arrested David Romero, 18, for murder related to the death of 49-year-old Thu Lan Tran.
On Friday, June 27, 2014, at approximately 9:00 a.m., officers responded to the 5600 block of 28th Street regarding a report of an unresponsive woman (later identified as victim Tran) with signs of serious injury.
Witnesses in the area called police after hearing what they believed to be a gunshot and noticed victim Tran down inside a commercial type business. Officers arrived on scene within minutes to find victim Tran who was determined to have suffered a fatal gunshot wound.
Patrol officers, Homicide detectives, Crime Scene Investigators and various other investigative personnel rapidly followed up on all available leads. On Saturday, June 28, 2014, suspect David Romero (pictured below) was taken into custody, without incident, at his apartment in the area of 32nd and X Streets. Suspect Romero was eventually booked into the Sacramento County Jail for the above charge.
This investigation continues to be ongoing and detectives would like to speak with anyone who may have information regarding this case.
