On Wednesday, September 3, 2014, at approximately 10:33 a.m., officers from the Sacramento Police Department responded to the 6300 block of Glenhills Way regarding a report of a shooting.
Sacramento Police Dispatch initially received a call from a male subject indicating he had just shot his wife and was threatening to take his own life. Moments later dispatch heard what sounded like a single gunshot and officers rushed to the scene.
The area was immediately secured and a nearby school was placed on a precautionary lockdown until officers arrived and determined the incident was isolated to a single residence. SWAT officers were called in and entered the home to find a male and female subject critically injured. Medics declared both subjects deceased on scene.
The preliminary investigation revealed the male subject, in his 60s, appeared to have sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The female subject in her 50s also appeared to have sustained fatal gunshot injuries. There were no other involved persons or occupants of the home at the time of the incident.
Sacramento Police Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators were called to the scene to assist with the investigation.
