The Sacramento Police Department is committed to deterring burglary in the city of Sacramento by locating and apprehending those who buy stolen property. On September 17, 2014, officers executed a search warrant at a Sacramento business stemming from a four-month "receiving stolen property" investigation.
In May 2014, the Sacramento Police South Command Crime Suppression Unit began an investigation into Game Source, located at 5653 Mack Road. Officers had received information that the business was knowingly purchasing property that was likely stolen from residential burglaries and other means of theft from our community.
Multiple undercover operations were performed where supposed stolen property was purchased by the business from undercover officers. On Wednesday, September 17, 2014, the investigation led to the arrest of the store's owner, Nidal Eid, 48.
During the search of the premises, a high-end men's ring (pictured below), sold to the business by an undercover officer as "stolen property", was recovered. Additionally, officers seized several stolen property items including two laptop computers and a game console. The stolen property was determined to have been taken from recent residential burglaries and believed to have been purchased by the business.
The State of California Employment Development Department also assisted with this investigation. The Sacramento Police Department, in conjunction with the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office, is committed to any measures available to combat burglary and theft in our community including through apprehending those that receive stolen property.
