On Wednesday, October 8, 2014, the Sacramento Police Department arrested 32-year-old Eddie Lay, an employee with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation for cultivation of marijuana for sale.
The investigation began with information obtained by the Sacramento Police Department’s South Area Street Gang Enforcement Team. The initial information indicated that an unknown law enforcement officer may be involved in criminal activity related to a known street gang.
Over the course of 8 months, investigators with the Sacramento Police Department Criminal Intelligence Unit, Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics and Gang Investigation Team, and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitations Office of Internal Affairs worked together to identify Lay as the officer involved in the marijuana cultivation case.
Today, multiple search warrants were executed at the following locations in the City of Sacramento:
· 5000 block of Lemon Parkway
· Rancho Torre Court
· 7200 block of Desi Way
· 100 block of Hazen Court
· 7000 block of Rock Creek Way
· 7200 block of Hatboro Court
In total, 617 marijuana plants, approximately 248 pounds of packaged and processed marijuana, multiple firearms and over $5,000 cash were seized and booked into evidence.
Four other subjects were also arrested while conducting the search warrants. Tommy Su, 29, was arrested during the Rancho Torre Court service and was booked for possession for sales of marijuana. Phu Su, 33, was arrested during the Hazen Court warrant search and booked for cultivation and sales. Michael Su, 29 and Vich Nguyen, 29, were both arrested at the Desi Way house for cultivation for sale as well as for child endangerment.
Eddie Lay was booked into Sacramento County Jail for cultivation of marijuana for sale. Pending further investigation, additional charges may be added.
