The Sacramento Police Department has arrested Donald Chapman, 31, for murder related to the shooting death of 44-year-old Dale Botta.
On Tuesday, November 4, 2014, at approximately 3:38 a.m., officers responded to the 100 block of Saginaw Circle regarding a report of shots fired and a subject down. Officers rushed to the scene to find Botta inside of the residence with multiple gunshot wounds. Sacramento Fire personnel also responded and pronounced Botta deceased at the scene.
Detectives soon discovered that the suspected shooter was known to the victim and had fled the scene immediately after the incident. It was also determined that a verbal altercation involving Botta and Chapman had escalated, which ultimately resulted in the deadly shooting.
One day later, Sacramento Police detectives developed information which led them to Chapman’s whereabouts. Chapman was taken into custody without incident, in Vallejo, CA on Wednesday, November 5, 2014, and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail for murder.
