The Sacramento Police Department has arrested three family members for the death of 77-year-old Leo Curry Jr..
On Monday, November 17, 2014, officers responded to the 4000 block of Shining Star Drive to find Victim Curry, deceased inside of his home. Family members had not heard from Curry in several days and became concerned which prompted them to call police. Neighbors also reported that the victim's vehicle was missing from his driveway where it was normally parked, which escalated their concern.
Due to the victim's obvious signs of physical trauma, Homicide detectives were summoned to the scene. Crime Scene Investigators were also called to assist with processing the scene.
It was soon discovered that Curry had befriended a family in need and invited them into his home. The family began taking advantage of the victim to include theft of property and finances. Sandy George, 35, Michael Moreno, 37, and Kevin Moreno, 19, are believed to have conspired to commit robbery and theft against Curry over several weeks.
Soon after the investigation began, detectives discovered the victim's vehicle in an online ad that was sold after his death; which ultimately led to all three suspects being booked for homicide.
The investigation continues to be active and ongoing.
