On Sunday, February 8, 2014 at 2:19 a.m., the Sacramento Police Department received a call regarding the sound of gunfire near the 7500 block of Wainscott Way.
Responding officers searched the area only to locate a possible scene and evidence someone had been injured, but did not find any victims in the immediate area.
At approximately 2:43 a.m., officers received an additional call from an area hospital regarding a young male, in his late teens that had just arrived and was suffering from a gunshot Injury. The victim was pronounced deceased at the hospital by medical personnel, soon after he arrived.
Homicide detectives along with Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene. Detectives contacted witnesses, canvassed the area, and began investigating the circumstances surrounding this fatal shooting.
The investigation is ongoing and although a specific motive is still not yet known, detective's do not believe this was a random act. No arrests have been made.
