The Sacramento Police Department has arrested 55-year-old Cresencio Camasura for murder.
On Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at approximately 7:14 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the 7300 block of 22nd Street regarding a report of an assault. The 911 caller, later identified as Suspect Camasura, initially reported the incident to police dispatch and information received indicated he had left the scene.
Officers rushed to the residence to find the home secure and received no answer at the front door. Soon after the first officers arrived, Camasura returned to the scene and was safely detained by police.
Officers forced entry into the locked front door and found an adult female inside, unresponsive, with apparent life threatening stab wounds. The victim was ultimately pronounced deceased at the scene by fire personnel.
Detectives were called in to assist with the investigation. It was soon discovered that Camasura was a relative of the victim through marriage. Detectives believe this to be an isolated incident. After being questioned at Police Headquarters, Suspect Cresencio Camasura was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail for murder.
