The Sacramento Police Department has arrested 27-year-old Porche Wright for felony child abuse and attempted murder of her 7-year-old daughter.
On Saturday, April 4, 2015, at approximately 3:17 p.m., officers responded to Wright's residence, in the 600 block of El Camino Avenue, for a report of child abuse. Police were notified when a friend of the suspect arrived at the home and noticed the child's injuries.
When officers arrived they discovered the 7-year-old with serious burns. The young girl was rushed to the hospital by Sacramento Fire Paramedics who immediately administered medical treatment for burns. The victim is currently being treated at an area hospital for severe injuries and is expected to survive.
Detectives were summoned, along with fire investigators who assisted with processing the scene. It is believed that the child's injuries are consistent with a flammable liquid that was placed on the victim and set on fire.
Wright (pictured below) was taken into custody at the scene and later questioned at police headquarters, prior to being booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail.
