On Monday, April 20, 2015 at 12:38 a.m., the Sacramento Police Department received a report of a male adult suffering from a gunshot wound, near the 200 block of Cookingham Way.
As officers were responding to the home, additional calls indicated reports of gunfire heard in the same area. Upon arrival at the scene, officers located an unresponsive 18-year-old man with an apparent gunshot injury.
Sacramento Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and pronounced the man deceased.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was standing just outside of his home when he was shot. He was able to walk inside of the residence and make contact with family prior to succumbing to his injuries.
Homicide Detectives along with Crime Scene Investigators responded to assist. The investigation continues to be ongoing and a specific motive is still not yet known. No arrests have been made at this time and detectives are asking for anyone with information to please come forward.
