On Sunday, April 26, 2015, at approximately 2:58 p.m., officers responded to the 700 block of Lampasas Avenue regarding a report of an assault and shots fired in the area.
Officers arrived to find the victim, a male in his late 30s, who had apparently sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Responding officers rendered lifesaving efforts until Sacramento Fire Department Medics arrived and ultimately declared the victim deceased at the scene.
Detectives were summoned to the scene along with CSI. A preliminary investigation revealed that at least two suspects arrived in the area and approached an apartment on foot, just before shots were fired. It is believed that the arriving suspects shot the victim, in the apartment complex, and then fled.
A specific motive is not yet known; however, robbery may have played a role in the shooting.
